ELLEN JANE PETERSON WEARS HER veterinary uniform

Ellen Jane Peterson (she/her)

Hello.  My name is Ellen Jane Peterson and I am eighteen years old.  I am in high school.  I have Down Syndrome.
I have a job after school working at the veterinarian hospital two days a week.  I help take care of the animals and I love my job.  I also like listening to music, dancing, hanging out with my friends, and swimming. Sometimes school is hard but mostly it’s fun.

Mark Reilly (he/him)

Hi to everybody out there in website world!  As a ten year-old superstar (haha in my mind), I like to play basketball, science is my favorite subject, and I dream of racing in the NYC marathon one day.  I’m also one-half of a great team - I have a twin brother named Mike who looks just like me EXCEPT for the cruiser (my wheelchair’s nickname).  I have cerebral palsy, he doesn’t.

Renaldo Rodriguez (he/him)

Yo website readers!  My age is ten, my friends are fun, and my game is cool.  Um – I’m studying poetry in school now, So I try to be “poetic” all the time.  I like reading, love writing, have a great time playing baseball on my baseball team, and am learning to salsa!  In case you didn’t notice from my picture, I’m blind.  But that doesn’t stop me from doing anything.

Kids rule!  I’m ten years old and in the same class as Mark. I wear glasses for school and I have a lot of energy to talk to kids about being a kid and having ADHD and being a kid activist. I like basketball, music class (I’m learning to play the trombone), history, and making chocolate chip cookies.  Both my moms are involved in social justice work and I think it’s really really important! It’s up to us to change the world! I would like to be a reporter when I grow up and travel around the world writing stories about all different kinds of people.

Carlo Moretti (he/him)

Hi everyone. I'm Carlo.  I'm ten and a half.  I like the beach, I like my new puppy (whose name is Cinnamon!), and I like walking in nature. I'm in the same class as Melody and Renaldo. We just finished a school project about all the ways people are different.  My difference is that I'm on the Autism Spectrum. It means my brain works a little differently than some people.  I like being me.

Bowen Dubrowski (they/them)

Hello, everyone reading this. My name is Bowen and I’m in fifth grade. I used to be called Brenda, but last year I changed my name. Bowen feels more like me. I don’t want to be labeled one way! I talked with my parents, and they agree. I love dancing, creating content on my laptop, and baking bread. I grew up in New York City – the best city in the world, according to me, but a couple years ago, my family moved to Mississippi because my mom had work there. It was interesting to be in a different part of the country, but I missed New York. There’s so much variety here. I’m very happy to be here again.
